What is Excessive Underarm Sweating?

Axillary hyperhidrosis is characterized by excessive sweat production by the sweat glands, a production far above physiological needs.
It is a very uncomfortable situation and can bring an associated problem: the unpleasant odor known as bromhidrosis.
The two situations do not always occur simultaneously and have nothing to do with poor hygiene.
A strong sweat odor may result from the multiplication of bacteria in this area due to increased humidity and lack of skin respiration. However, it may also be due to overstimulation of the apocrine sweat glands, which are responsible for the odor.

Causes
In most cases, there's no medical reason for excessive sweating. It's simply that the sweat glands are overactive and produce too much sweat. More often, this condition has a genetic basis and is called primary hyperhidrosis.
Rarely, hyperhidrosis can be caused by other conditions, such as hormonal disorders. However, in these cases, it tends to be generalized hyperhidrosis, not confined to the armpits. In any case, whenever necessary, the doctor will order a test to rule out other causes.
