Biography of Professor Inês Tomada
Clinical Nutrition Specialist
Born in the city of Porto, Inês Tomada is a Nutritionist.
Graduated in Nutritional Sciences from Faculty of Nutrition and Food Sciences of the University of Porto (FCNAUP), in 2001. She holds professional license number 0045N from the Order of Nutritionists.
In 2008, he completed the Master's Degree in Clinical Nutrition at the same college, having started that year PhD in Metabolism, Clinical and Experimental Studies in the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto, which he completed with distinction in 2013.
His first steps in the world of Clinical Nutrition began in 2000, while he was still a student, at the Endocrinology and Nutrition Service of the São João Hospital and University Center, in Porto, and, in 2001, he began working independently in the Pediatrics Department of the same hospital.
Since 2002, she has been working independently in clinical practice, focusing particularly on the nutrition and eating behavior of women, children and adolescents, highlighting the impact of nutrition on disease prevention and the promotion of health and physical and emotional well-being.
At the same time, since 2009, she has been an Assistant Professor at Higher School of Biotechnology of the Catholic University of Portugal, where she teaches three courses in the undergraduate program in Nutrition Sciences and coordinates a module in a postgraduate program at the same institution. She also supervises and serves on the jury for academic examinations leading to bachelor's and master's degrees, as well as professional examinations for candidates to the Order of Nutritionists.
She is regularly invited to lecture at higher education institutions and speak at scientific meetings. She organizes several professional development courses within her field of expertise for peers and other healthcare professionals.
Between 2006 and 2017, she was a researcher at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto and Institute for Research and Innovation in Health (I3S) (Research Group: Ageing and Stress), and since 2018, she has been a researcher at Center for Biotechnology and Fine Chemistry of the Catholic University of Portugal.
AND author and co-author 4 book chapters and dozens of scientific articles published in national and international journals with scientific arbitration and belongs to the editorial board of two indexed journals.
