Leg Makeover®: What is it?
Leg Makeover® is an exclusive treatment developed by Dr. Joana de Carvalho, which resolves several common problems affecting the legs, such as varicose veins and spider veins, in a single procedure. It is available at Leg Clinic® by Allure, in Lisbon and Porto.
This procedure consists of a set of techniques that treat the underlying venous disease, as well as the aesthetic problem, giving the patient healthy, beautiful legs.
How does the Leg Makeover ® treatment work?
Leg Makeover® begins with an evaluation consultation. This initial meeting is intended to conduct a clinical examination, learn about the patient's history, and discuss their expectations regarding the results.
The study with the Doppler Ultrasound is part of the diagnosis, since this exam evaluates the function of the deeper veins (which are not visible to observation) and identifies those that are the origin of varicose veins and strokes.
Leg Makeover ® starts by treating the most important problem: venous disease. which is the basis of varicose veins and strokes. Then, The most superficial and aesthetic treatments follow.
Treatments are suggested and included in the plan after evaluation by a specialist doctor. In addition to those mentioned below, others may be suggested to provide the best results for your health and appearance.
Some of the Treatments Included
- Radio frequency: A minimally invasive procedure with excellent results in the treatment of varicose veins. This method uses radiofrequency energy to obliterate diseased veins without the need for surgical removal.
- Cryo-Laser and Cryo-Sclerotherapy: An innovative method for treating varicose veins and spider veins (telangiectasia) in the legs. It combines laser treatment and drying of the spider veins to achieve faster results with fewer side effects.
- Sclerotherapy or “varicose vein drying”“: technique that allows the effective treatment of large-caliber varicose veins, without surgery and without rest.
- Depigmentation: laser treatment for dark spots on the skin (they are a consequence of venous disease in the absence of treatment or resulting from previous treatments, due to an inflammatory issue).
Leg Makeover® Treatment
Indications
Leg Makeover® is indicated for patients with:
- Varicose veins, strokes and telangiectasias (commonly called “strokes”, “vascular spider veins” or “rays”);
- Protruding varicose veins;
- Saphenous vein incompetence;
- Pigmentation spots on the skin.
All cases that can be resolved with minimally invasive techniques and in an outpatient setting can be treated with Leg Makeover®.
Contraindications
In patients with multiple varicose veins, it may not be possible to treat them all at once. In these cases, surgery is performed first, followed by cosmetic treatment.
Patients with weight problems also have limitations.
Obesity itself constitutes a contraindication because it increases recurrence and surgical risks. It's important to control your weight before any type of intervention.
Procedure
3 to 4 hours;
Minimally invasive with local anesthesia;
Treatments are performed in a doctor's office and, in most cases, there is no recovery time.
Post-treatment
In the overwhelming majority of cases, there is no downtime since the procedure is performed on an outpatient basis.
The next day, you can resume your daily activities and return to work. This time, with healthier, more aesthetically pleasing legs.
